About

The Bywater Band is one of Boston’s fiercest and most innovative Celtic ensembles. The band draws on their roots in the Scottish and Irish traditions to create blazingly tight tune sets and emotional song renditions. Their music is infused with original compositions, improvisation, and tones of American roots music, giving it a fresh and unique feel.

The band is lead by singer/piper Elias Alexander, (Soulsha, MAC, Seven Nations, Fàrsan) and features the talents of Scottish National Fiddle Champion and Glenfiddich Champion Maura Shawn Scanlin on fiddle,  Eamon Sefton on guitar, and Patrick Bowling on flute, whistle, bodhran, and step dance.

The Bywater Band’s dedication to infusing the tradition with new tunes and songs, plus their passionate performances and instrumental virtuosity, has made their debut album, “Bywater,” beloved of listeners around the country, reminding us of why traditional music continues to be relevant across continents and generations.
